Yes, this dude has a tattoo of The Gimp on his lower back. Sweeney was also in Pulp Fiction, playing a far more forgettable character. She and Hibbert were married between 19, meaning they got divorced around the same time Pulp Fiction came out. That’s Julia Sweeney, dressed as her character Pat from Saturday Night Live. The Gimp Dialogue/Theme Bring Out the Gimp /Comanche The Gimp doesn’t actually speak in Pulp Fiction, but we all remember the dialogue when the Gimp is introduced. The Gimp actor, Stephen Hibbert, has been doing several interviews lately on his character and time on the set. There have been few characters in film history with so little screen time and no dialogue, yet whose name alone is so easily remembered even 20 years later. Had the Gimp been based on a real person, it would be one of the saddest things ever, but Tarantino’s direction makes it bearable at worst, humorous at best (we’re just talking about the Gimp scene, not the rape scene).

Gimp or no gimp, Butch still would have escaped and freed Wallace, and the film would’ve been a full minute shorter.īut I digress. Oddly enough, had there been no Gimp in this film, nothing in the plot would have changed, and the film still would have been a huge success. He then gets leashed up and tasked with keeping guard of Bruce Willis’s character, Butch, as mob boss Marsellus Wallace gets raped. The Gimp is introduced when he’s brought out of a locked box where he sleeps.

Whenever I watched a movie after that, I’d just think.Octomarks the 20th anniversary of the release of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. While there are plenty of memorable scenes and characters in this film, no one stands out more than The Gimp, the sex slave of a pawn shop owner and a security guard. This also made me think differently about movies. Now I’ve seen Godfather, Taxi Driver, 2001, everything. I became a lover of movies (you can tell by my thumbnail). At the time I saw this movie, I hadn’t seen anything from Stanley Kubrick, Kevin Smith, Martin Scorsese, etc. It was the first time when I really thought to myself, “what goes into making a movie? Who made this movie? How much time did it take? How was it edited?” The minute I got back home, I sat through Tarantino’s complete filmography. I must have watched that fuckin’ movie the rest of the vacation (internet sucked). By the time it was over, I was convinced that I just witness the greatest thing ever created. The introduction scene played, along with Miserlou, and I thought it was pretty damn cool. This was just a movie that I said to myself “this’ll be a blind watch.” Well I was alone in my room, and I played Pulp Fiction. The Netflix thumbnail looked alright, so I downloaded it knowing nothing about it. I’d never heard of “Pulp Fiction” at all. Here’s the background: I was a dumb gamer kid who happened to like movies a little, went on a vacation on a cruise, brought his laptop to watch some shit Netflix films, and was totally changed. Maybe I’m making it out to be too crazy than it is, but I hadn’t seen many movies up the point of me first seeing this. So much is happening! Butch slammed into Marcellus Wallace with a car, Butch got hit in the process, they both woke up, chased each other through the streets, ended up in a basement, Marcellus got raped, Butch carefully chose his weapon, and the rapers were executed. I liked movies then, but this was the first movie where my jaw dropped to the floor and I was speechless.
